B674 knob

B674-31-OC

The B674-31 is one of the three original pieces in this suite. It features the braided rope design around the rim of the knob. With a 1¼” diameter, it is similar in size to many of our other standard round knobs while offering a decorative alternative to more traditional styles. As with all of the hardware suites, this item is solid brass and available in 10 finishes.

In response to customer requests, the original B711 knob has been replaced by the new B721, which was introduced in spring of 2009. This oblong knob has the same look and braided design of the B711; however, it has been enlarged slightly. Where the B711 knob was 1¼” in diameter and 1” in height, the B721 knob is 1½” in diameter with a height of 1¼”.

Since all of the pieces in the Cliffside signature line are available in all ten finishes and are all made from the same material, any knob can be used with the Rope Suite, if you prefer not to utilize the above designs. In the new product supplement, the B674 and B721 are accompanied by the 161 knob, but any other knob can also be used.

Pulls

K344 series pulls in 3"cc, 8"cc and 12"cc models

Before our recent line expansion, the K344 series was notably inconsistent, with the 3″cc pull available in the BNI finish while the 12″cc appliance pull was available in SS (Silver Satin). We are pleased to announce that all of the pieces are now available in the SS finish only, allowing you a greater freedom to choose pieces that match your hardware! The newest piece is the K344-8, a stylish size that is appropriate for oversized pantry doors or for appliances like dishwashers and trash compactors with wood panel kits.

This suite is the only one to receive a completely new cup pull as well; it was designed in conjunction with our suppliers especially for Cliffside Industries. Borrowing the braided design of the K344 and following the style of the ever-popular K4235, the new K544 cup makes a bold statement on any drawer.

SBCL-PN

Each Cliffside suite can be accompanied by the use of one or more latches. Cliffside offers two styles: the IBCL finger latch, and the SBCL turn latch. Each is cast from solid brass and will prove more durable in the long run than any similar products made of inferior materials. Cliffside also offers the widest variety of finishes in the industry for both of these products.

BH2A-FB-NF

Cliffside’s solid brass hinges are the perfect solution for matching an exposed hinge to your hardware. Made with solid one-piece construction, our hinges have been developed with the finest European craftsmen to bring you a product that remains unchanged over the years and continues to provide the high quality you deserve and expect. Cliffside currently offers six hinge styles, with a new seventh style arriving in early 2010. The BH2A hinge is available with our signature steeple finial (17 finishes), a ball finial (11 finishes), or no finial (11 finishes). Its larger counterpart, the BH3A, is available with its signature minaret finial in 13 finishes. The BH2A-NM non-mortise butt hinge has 16 finishes to choose from with the signature finial, and 11 finishes with a ball tip as well. The newest hinge style, BH3A-NM — a larger non-mortise hinge — will be available with the signature finial in 11 finishes coming in early 2010. Additionally, Cliffside offers two styles of offset hinges and two styles of armoire hinges to supply your cabinet construction needs.

Cliffside Industries proudly introduces our new hardware suites. Each suite contains a variety of items designed to be used in conjunction with one another. Each suite contains a minimum of three knobs, a 3″cc pull, a 3″cc cup pull, an 8″cc pull, a 12″cc pull, and two latches. Any item from any suite can be mixed and matched with items from another. Additionally, all four solid brass suites are available complete in all of our top ten finishes, including  Antique Brass, Black, Iron, Old Antique, Old Copper, Polished Brass, Polished Chrome, Polished Nickel, Silver Satin, and Venetian Bronze. Cliffside also offers six different hinge styles in finishes to match nearly every suite. The four solid brass suites include:

Scroll Suite

This suite contains the scroll-style pulls SP-3, SP-8, and SP-12. Any knobs or cup pulls in our line may be used with this suite, but we particularly recommend the 100, 100-20, or 105 series knobs and the K4235 cup pull. See the photos below for more details. Due to the sleek ball design in the middle of the pull, Cliffside’s new ball tip hinges work very well with this design.

Rope Suite

This suite contains the rope-design pulls K344, K344-8, and K344-12. A new cup pull, K544, has been designed specifically for this suite as well, though customers wishing for a simpler look may certainly choose any other piece. The B674-31 and B721 knobs also have the rope design on their faces, though we recommend the 161 series for customers seeking a simpler solution. Cliffside’s line of 3-8-OFFSET hinges add a definitive sparkle to this hardware series.

Criss-Cross Suite

Many new items are available in this suite, including the P-399-8 and P-399-12 pulls, which match the original P-399. Previously available in only two finishes, this entire line, which includes the P-398 cup pull, the K-580 knob, and the new K-579 knob, is now available in all of the top ten finishes. With this decorative look, Cliffside recommends the armoire hinges to add a unique accent to your cabinet doors.

Classic Suite

The lines of this suite are smooth and contoured as the hardware is defined by the B1-3 and B1-12 pulls. The new B1-8 is an addition to this line. Cliffside also offers the K341 cup pull, as the 110, 158, and 161 series knobs. Two different cupboard latches are available with this and with all other suites as well. Cliffside’s original BH2A or BH2A-NM hinges work well with this series, in steeple or ball finial.

Other suites

Sedona

The Sedona suite, available in three rustic finishes, contains many of the elements of the traditional Cliffside suites. With pulls available in four sizes up to 18″cc as well as a cup pull, Sedona pulls offer a variety of design options in Antique Iron, Antique Silver, and Bronze. Five knobs are also available: small and large round knobs, small and large wave knobs, and an oblong knob. Stainless Steel

While there are no cup pulls available in stainless steel, our T305 and T366 series pulls are available in a variety of sizes from 96mm cc up to 1392mm cc. Two knobs, the T565-30 and the T6312-25, are also available. These pulls also match well with our solid brass hinges in the “SS” (silver satin) finish. For appliances, Cliffside also offers the D85 series pulls, with sizes up to 64″ overall.

Company history

This beautiful farmhouse kitchen features the Quality Custom Cabinetry® Lancaster door style in an Olde Towne Buttermilk finish. Olde Towne Moss is used on the free-standing island.

In 1968, a cabinetmaker named Martin H. Weaver started his own business in a 2,200 sq. ft. building in Brownstown (PA), with two employees and a modest goal of building one, very special kitchen a day. Weaver was all about quality and giving people an honest product that would be built with integrity and pride. Hence the straightforward name Quality Custom Kitchens.

By 1972 Quality hired its first full-time kitchen designer plus a salesperson to develop a small dealer network that initially built inroads into the Philadelphia and New Haven (CT) markets. Business flourished and in 1983 the company moved up the road to New Holland, into a 27,000 sq.ft. building that was equipped with the most advanced technologies for woodworking and finishing. Four years later there was another 20,000 sq.ft. expansion, and a formal, freestanding corporate headquarters was built in 1990.

By the time Quality celebrated its 25th anniversary in 1993, annual sales were close to $10 million, generated by 100 dealers and 135 employees. About this time Weaver stepped aside so his son-in-law Glenn L. Good, now President and CEO, and son Jerry Weaver, now Vice President, could take over the helm.

In 1995 the company’s name was changed to Quality Custom Cabinetry, Inc. – a reflection of the diversity of its solid wood product line. From a three-person shop, Quality had become one of the most sophisticated cabinetry manufacturers in the nation, renown for its exquisite solid wood cabinetry and accessories, timeless designs, and range of finishes that are always in tune with the latest design trends.
Sales continued at a steady pace, leading to more expansions in manufacturing (to 126,000 sq.ft.), enhanced product offerings, and a dealer network that now extends to the West Coast.

The sleek Euro-styling of this contemporary Saxton Cabinetry® kitchen spotlights the sophisticated Opus Gold door style in Birdseye Maple with a hi-gloss finish.

It was renewed interest in frameless construction that sparked Quality’s progression into Saxton Cabinetry®. After a rigorous two-year pilot program the new brand was formally launched in 2007 with construction of a 57,000 sq.ft. facility that is 100% dedicated to the latest frameless technology.

To separate its custom cabinetry brands and set up a business structure to better accommodate future growth, the firm’s corporate identity has been changed to QCCI®. B is for Bin Pull

We had a couple of options to pick through for B, but we chose to feature our popular bin pulls. Also known as cup pulls, these are a popular way to add a decorative accent to the face of any drawer. Some of our most popular cup pulls include the K341, K4235, and P-398, and we will be adding a cup pull to complement our rope-series pulls early next year.

F is for Football

Some of you may wonder what the gridiron has to do with Cliffside, but take a close look at the 105 series knobs. Does that remind you of the shape of that peerless pigskin so prevalent around the holiday season? We offer several other oblong-shaped knobs, including the B711 series. We will be introducing the new B721 series oblong knob in early 2009 as well, a larger version to replace the B711 in the rope series.

G is for “Green”

In an attempt to be more environmentally conscious, Cliffside has undertaken some measures to “get green.” Every Cliffside catalog that is printed contains fiber from well-managed and responsibly harvested forests that meet strict environmental standards. We are proud to be among the first catalogers in the country to make this commitment, and are certified as such by the Forest Stewardship Council. In addition, Cliffside uses a paperless billing system that cuts down on waste, and reuses paper in house to reduce our usage even further.

H is for Hinges

Cliffside offers a full line of hinges in a variety of finishes. Four styles of inset hinges are available; the BH2A and BH3NA are both adjustable mortise hinges, while the BH2A and AHI hinges are non-mortising. The two offset hinges are the lengthy offset armoire hinge (AHO) and a standard ⅜” offset hinge. All of our hinges are available in our most popular finishes from antique brass to black, old antique to silver satin. I is for Ice Box Latch

Added to the Cliffside line in early 2008, the Ice Box Cupboard Latch has seen a spike in popularity in the recent months. Customers are looking for new and unique ways to close their cabinets, and Cliffside has the most affordable prices in the industry on this particular, hard-to-find style of latch. Available in seven finishes and with three more coming in ‘09, these solid brass latches are available to match any decor!

K is for Knobs

Cliffside’s line of knobs is varied and numerous, and out of our top-ten selling items, five of them are knobs. The 105 was featured above, but this line also includes the top-selling 100 series, the 161 series and the 158 series, among many others. We offer knob choices to fit any kitchen or bath style; we also offer stainless steel knobs to match our bars pulls, novelty knobs for themed hardware, and crystal knobs for that elegant touch (see above).

L is for Latches

Though we just spoke above about the Ice Box latch, we would be remiss not to mention our popular turn-style cupboard latch (SBCL). Built tough with a solid brass construction and beautifully finished, this latch has been popular in the kitchen and bath industry for years in a variety of styles. Cliffside’s design is simple, but we pride ourselves in offering a quality product and excellent service to back it up.

M is for Magnet catches

From latches to catches, Cliffside offers a variety of methods for keeping your cabinets closed. The MC-640 magnetic catches are available in three colors (brown, white, and tan) and two different magnet strengths (approximately 6 and 10 pounds). We also offer MC-400 in tan and MC-781 in brown for a slightly wider magnet and different style of catch. These magnets will keep your cabinets secure for years to come.

N is for Nickel

Some of Cliffside’s newest and most popular hardware is finished in Polished Nickel. We offer a variety of knobs, pulls, and hinges in this shiny new finish, with many more coming with the addition of new products in 2009, including new appliance pulls and new ball-tip hinges! This writer has seen some of the new products in person, and believe me, you do not want to miss out on the opportunity to pick up some of these new items before they start flying off of the shelves in our warehouse.

O is for Old Antique

The most popular finish among customers using Cliffside’s hinges, we are preparing to roll out several new products featuring the Old Antique finish in just a few months. Similar to the industry standard “oil-rubbed bronze,” Cliffside’s Old Antique finish is a rich chocolate brown color, and can be effectively used in a variety of cabinet styles and kitchen decors. If you haven’t seen this popular finish yet, consider ordering a sample of one of our hinges to see it.

P is for Pulls

In addition to the appliance pulls and bin pulls mentioned at the top of our ABCs, Cliffside has a variety of pulls to satisfy any taste. Offering a variety of drop pulls and standard handles, our catalog is full of different selections in a variety of popular finishes. Q is for Quality Hardware

R is for Rope

T is for Traditional

The majority of the hardware in the Cliffside line works well in traditionally-styled kitchens, as we offer classic designs like the scroll pull and the rope design. V is for Venetian Bronze

The newest finish to be added to the Cliffside line, Venetian Bronze is a mix of bright copper overlaid with a thin layer of dark brown. Some copper coloring is left exposed to produce a pleasing two-tone effect that looks great on any cabinet. This finish looks best on high-detail pieces, such as K-580, K344, or P-398. Look for more information about this finish coming soon!

The first public look at the new "X knob", K-579-AB

X is for the “X” knob

Known to our hardware designers as the “X knob” for its distinctive criss-cross pattern, this new knob is actually called K-579 (shown as K-579-AB). The X pattern was developed to match the pattern displayed on P-399 and P-398 and is an integral part of Cliffside’s new hardware suites (watch for more coming soon on this topic). This new knob was developed especially for Cliffside as a colloboration between our designers and our supplier; this is truly an original item. Look for more information soon on this and other exciting new products!

Z is for Zaleskie

Cliffside Industries has been owned and operated by the Zaleskie family since 1987. Having been previously involved in the kitchen and bath industry for over 14 years, founder Walter Zaleskie had the dream to start his own company. Walter ran his office out of the basement of his home and rented warehouse space from any company that had space to spare. He traveled to the Far East and Europe in search of quality hardware at competitive prices. His first hardware board was both limited and modest, but he took it with him everywhere he went as he drove up and down the East Coast and across the Midwest, visiting cabinetmakers and dealers far and wide. Today, Walter, his wife, his daughter, and his son-in-law are still at the helm, defining Cliffside as a family business and the true meaning of an American dream.

The Expert!

When do I use a cup, a pull and a knob ?

The traditional application is to use a cup or a pull for the cabinet drawers and a knob for the hinged cabinet doors. On wide drawers, it is also common to mount two knobs.

To open big refrigerator/appliance doors with fabricated cabinet panels, longer and larger pulls are being used to allow for greater leverage. These pulls range anywhere from 8″ to 24″ long and upwards.

Cliffside has an extensive line of knobs, cups, pulls and appliance pulls available in traditional, classic and designer styles, a variety of high quality materials including stainless steel and solid brass and in up to 10 popular finishes. Break-off screws are included with all Cliffside hardware.  

Professional installation is advised for all hardware.

Pulls can be used in a variety of locations on your doors and drawers.

Cups and Pulls

For cabinet drawers

The optimum placement of cups and pulls is to find the spot slightly above the center line (vertical) on the drawerand the spot that makes the pull look like it is centered when the cabinets are viewed from above (as if you were standing at the countertop looking down). The amount of offset is up to the installer, but starting with 1/16″ and up is a good place to start.

Using a Phillips head screw driver and the standard thread 8/32 x 1¾” break off screws included with your hardware, mount the drawer cup or pull on the face of the cabinet. Turn the screw into the socket clockwise.

For hinged doors

Avoid placing the pull in the corner of the door frame. We recommend placing the pull in the upper third, but with many traditional-style cabinets a pull in the center of the door stile (vertical) can be pleasing.

Appliance Pulls

We recommend utilizing your appliance manufacturer’s installation/design guide for mounting instructions. Professional installation is especially advised for all appliance hardware.

The optimum placement of appliance pulls on hinged doors is when the center of the door hardware is at elbow height of the adult users in the home. This allows the lowest part of the handle to be used by children comfortably.

The optimum placement of pulls on appliances should be in the center of the appliance panel’s top rail, regardless of width.

For both hinged door and drawer panels, we recommend mounting our hardware slightly away from the panel edge. This allows a little more finger clearance on these larger pulls

Knobs

For wide cabinet drawers

Avoid mounting them too widely or narrowly. The optimum placement of two knobs on wide drawers is the center of the door below (if applicable) and align vertically with the outer third of each door. If there are only more drawers below, then measure the drawer into thirds to find the best spot.

For base cabinet drawers

The optimum placement of a knob on a base cabinet drawer is slightly above the center line (vertical) on the drawer. This helps make the knob look like it is centered when the cabinets are viewed from above (as if you were standing at the countertop looking down). As with any pull, the amount of offset is up to the installer, but 1/16″ and up is a good place to start.

For hinged doors

We recommend placing the knob on a hinged doors in the upper third of the door face. Both options provide more leverage. Using the corner of the door to install hardware can cause weakness in the hinges over repeated use, so as with a pull, we suggest avoiding that particular location.
